Sculptor inspired by God’s natural beauty

Artist Tony Underwood will be a guest at the May 31 Kaleidoscope Cultural Arts Festival from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Kannapolis, N.C., which is organized by the Kannapolis Arts.

Here are a couple of his thoughts on his artwork:

“As a North Carolina native, I believe my home state to be one of the most beautiful in our country.  There is so much by which to be inspired, from the majestic Smoky Mountains to the west to the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean to the east.  And trees everywhere.  Tall and strong, able to stand through the wind and rain, reaching up into a Carolina blue sky.”

“God’s artwork in its infinite perfection can never be matched, but imitation is the best form of flattery.  My art is inspired by nature, by all that God created, so I use mostly natural elements such as metal, rock, wood, seeds, pinecones, and moss.  All art is original and handmade with no power tools.”

“No piece will ever be the same as another, they all have their own personalities and characteristics.  I hope you will enjoy my Imagination.  If a piece speaks to you…then please purchase.  If you like a previous piece from the gallery, I can replicate it as close as possible.”
