FREE screening of Cabarrus County made faith-based/sci-fi film
Modern Film Fest returns to the Gem Theatre with a FREE monthly screening series at the historic 900 seat theater., located at 111 West 1st St., Kannapolis. At 10 a.m. the first Saturday of each month at the Gem Theattre there will be a free screening of an independent movie.
October’s film, screening at 10 a.m. Oct. 3 will be the faith based sci-fi film “My Name is Paul” which was filmed in CABARRUS COUNTY.
Cast and crew from the film are scheduled to do attend the screening for a short Q&A afterward.
Here is a synopsis of the film:
Paul blinded by hate and intent on destruction is determined to find and kill Peter, the enemy of his Leader. However, a terrible accident and a miraculous discovery take him off course and on a road of self-discovery where he learns to live and love the Way.
And here is one review of the movie:
This movie gives the viewer a glimpse into an apocalyptic future that is dark and grim and yet offers a ray of light and hope.
This interesting movie uses the analogy of the Apostle Paul, and how that he was once Saul, a hater and persecutor of Christians.
His turnaround was fantastic when he met the Lord on the Road to Damascus and, though blinded, received his sight again when the Christian man named Ananias prayed for him.
In this movie, Paul is a persecutor of those who follow “The Way” (Christ) and he winds up blinded during an accident. When an underground Christian named Ananias prays for him, his sight is restored and his encounter with the Lord changes his heart completely.
Now he must find the leader of the underground movement, Peter, but the anti-God government plots to use Paul to lead them to Peter.
There is a lot of action in the movie and it features the idea of being committed to one’s beliefs no matter what. Although there is nothing explicitly graphic, there are several characters that are shot and killed and a little blood seen on the ground in one scene.
We are awarding this futuristic film our Family Approved Seal for ages twelve and over due to the several killings that take place. This movie will keep your attention with its suspense and apocalyptic plot. Continue reading FREE screening of Cabarrus County made faith-based/sci-fi film
