“Star Trek” fans may never recognize Bill Blair but there’s a real good chance they’ve caught one of his numerous performances. In May 2011, Blair was listed as the Guinness World record holder in the category ‘most special effect make-up characters portrayed in a career’ portraying more than 200 characters.
Being in the midst of Concord’s historical community, Sundae Art Gallery is geared towards its neighbors’ interests. The gallery offers work from over a dozen local fine artists amongst the joy of the artisan ice cream served below the space. Additionally Sundae Art Gallery envelops the interests of individuals or groups looking to learn more about the creation process by offering artistic educational opportunities and events for all ages. They offer several different painting classes as well.

Kannapolis Arts and Modern Film Fest at the Gem Theatre are currently taking submissions for a short film competition with a $250 prize for the winning short film. All films should be 20 minutes or less and it’s just $15 to submit! Open to any genre, but please keep it family friendly and a PG to PG-13 rating. Good luck and look forward to the entries!
The Concord based ConCarolinas has announced Ursula Vernon as their 2016 Artist Guest of Honor. Ursula, a native of North Carolina, is an award winning artist and author. She has won a Hugo Award, a Nebula Award, a WFSA Small Press award, the Web Cartoonist’s Choice Award, a Mythopoeic Fantasy Award, and has been nominated for many other awards.

Open mic night this Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Lil’ Robert’s Place in Concord. Lil’ Robert’s Place, located in downtown Concord,, has more than 500 different craft, micro, and import beers, 60+ wines and a huge collection of art from local artists.
Claire Lynch will perform a Holiday Bluegrass show at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 for the Cabarrus Arts Council at the Davis Theatre, 65 Union St. S, Concord. Tickets are $36.

The Holiday Market returns to downtown Kannapolis on Nov. 27 & 28.
Each year the Concord Christmas parade makes its way downtown, running along Union Street and this year’s 87th annual Concord Christmas parade kicks off at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21.
A Kannapolis Christmas will officially kick off with the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 at 6 p.m. at Village Park, 8th St Greenway, Kannapolis. The Celebration then continues all month long with Celebration of Lights and Winterland Express
